Brake Chamber Construction: A truck brake chamber is a cylindrical housing typically made of steel or aluminum. It contains a diaphragm, pushrod, return spring, and brake shoe or pad assembly. The chamber is designed to convert air pressure into mechanical force to apply and release the brakes.
Application of Brakes: When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates the air compressor, which pressurizes the air reservoirs. Compressed air is then directed to the brake chambers through the control valves. The air pressure forces the diaphragm inside the brake chamber to move outward, which extends the pushrod.
